The LARDER HANDLE was designed to be a
positive attachment, and eliminate the problem of the current handles used by snow tubing facilities to pull the
riders to the top of the runs.
The LARDER HANDLE follows a written procedure for checking the handle
and system, before any riders are allowed on the lift.
This takes approximately 10 minutes.
The LARDER HANDLE will ONLY release at the top of the lift line,
eliminating unnecessary shut downs and run away tubes.
The LARDER HANDLE is built for low maintenance and maximum usage.
The LARDER HANDLE does not touch the ground / snow.
It always rides clear of the surface under the lift line; it remains attached to the lift line,
and not with the tube/tuber. Thus, it will not accumulate snow / slush etc,
leading to potential malfunction / early detachment, as a system that remains with the tube.
This design lends itself to retrofit all existing tube lifts and new installations.
The mechanical release with safety gate, is a simple operation and
economical.
The only attachment to the tube is a six foot (6') long lanyard with a rubber ring-no metal or hard plastic projectiles
at the end of the lanyard - added safety to the tubers.
The safety gate is incorporated into the release mechanism - an added safety feature;
the tuber is not dragged past the designated release area and into a safety gate further up the hill.
Liability insurance companies have expressed interest in this mode of
operation.
The operating principle of the LARDER HANDLE was registered
with the Canadian Patent Office, March 24th 2003,
submissions pending to International Patent Offices and US.
Installation of the LARDER HANDLE is simple,
and can be easily installed by your staff. Complete instructions and clear drawings
for the installation of the cement posts in the release area (top of the lift line)
are supplied.
The LARDER HANDLE was installed for 2005-6 season at
Cranmore Mountain, North Conway, NH, USA. 2 lift retrofits were installed and are operational
as of Dec 23rd 2005. Contact Jim Mersereau, (603) 356 5544 extension 214.
