February 2006
The LARDER HANDLE system will installed at
Birch Hill Ski Area, Fort Wainwright, FAIRBANKS, AK, USA in the spring of 2006.
There are new video coverage of the loading and
unloading mechanisms taken at
Cranmore Mountain, NH this month.
December 2005
2 LARDER HANDLE systems were installed at
Cranmore Mountain Resort,
North Conway NH, USA.
This time the LARDER RAMP was used to ensure the consistent elevation for the release
of the tubes when the LARDER HANDLE encounters the release mechanism.
In past, this has been a concern, and required constant grooming to ensure the release of any
tube operation functioned successfully.
Now all of the guesswork has been taken away with the LARDER RAMP.
The LARDER RAMP works in conjunction with the LARDER HANDLE for a smooth and pleasant
experience for the tube rider, lift operators, employees and management.
The LARDER RAMP is made of smooth molded fiberglass with snow built up to assist in the ascent
to the release area and descent to the fall away area.
This saves employees time in manual maintenance of the drop off area;
shut down time, when the lift is very busy and the snow berm erodes or in the case of heavy snow fall and an excess build up of
snow in this area. The LARDER RAMP also quickens the start up preparations.
The white color renders the LARDER RAMP inconspicuous in the snow.
Sept 1st 2004:
The SAFETY GATE is now incorporated into the RELEASE MECHANISM.
The safety gate is in a better position to catch the 'tuber'
(if for some reason the lanyard does not release from the handle);
and stop the lift before the 'tuber' gets out of the release area.
This is a more positive experience for the 'tuber', others riding the lift line,
and the lift attendants. The 'tuber' is no longer taken 10-20 feet past the designated release
area, and into a safety gate before the lift is stopped.
The SAFETY GATE completely encircles the upcoming cable and is a current carrying
device with 2 plugs that come apart.
When the cord is hit , the plug is pulled apart and the lift is stopped.
